Dear Christopher,
Where has all the time gone by? It doesn’t seem like that long ago you were just a little boy
that would come down to the family gatherings in Bountiful and play with your cousins.
You and Grandma had such a very special relationship. I would always hear that you were
coming for a sleep over at Grandma’s . And then there were (and still are) those crazy
Christmas’ with all the ciaos and ALL THOSE PRESENTS.
I have a couple of very special “Christopher” memories…a couple of trips to Moab and
Slickrock. I can’t believe I actually did it and did it twice. And the second time when Blake
broke his elbow on the hill behind the motel, so you and I and Tye stayed there, had dinner
at a Shakey Jakes (a special “Moab” place that you couldn’t go to at home), hiked up to
Landscape Arch and around the Primitive Trail, and did that awful ride on the gravel road
to see the world famous petro glyphs down Nine Mile Canyon. And don’t forget the herd of
cattle running us off the road.
And now look at you… you are a handsome young man who has created his own business
and has a beautiful family…a lovely wife, two totally different but equally darling
daughters, and a young son.
Grandma and I were just talking the other day about the newspaper article about you
when you first started working in the “tech” field. It said that you had no education in that
field per se, that you were self taught. I must say that you come by that quite naturally.
Grandpa had no special training but was able to “just figure it out” with so many things, and
when your Dad was building his first house and Grandpa was busy on Rich’s house and all
his other help vanished, he just figured out how to do it….how to build that whole house
himself with very little help. So, lucky you, it’s in your genes and what a gift. But the gift is
only realized when do something with it, and you have done such a wonderful job. You are
quite a success.
You have been through a lot of stuff in your life. We tend to wonder why good people have
to go through so much crap. I have an answer for you. It forces us to grow and when the
really good things come along, we can truly appreciate them. Otherwise, we wouldn’t know
how really wonderful they are.
Happy Birthday my dear Christopher…
Love you so much and wish you a wonderful life.
Aunt Karen
